Located 100 miles west of Barbados, St Vincent & the Grenadines are an archipelago of thirty two small islands and cays known as “The Jewels of the Caribbean”. Regarded as a sailors’ paradise, the turquoise waters that surround these volcanic isles offer some of the best cruising and diving in the world.
The island of St Vincent is a hidden gem amongst its more recognised Caribbean counterparts. With its beautiful scenery of secluded coves and spectacular high mountains cloaked in lush tropical forest is enchanting and unspoilt. Culture, beauty and charm also made the island the perfect setting for the Disney film, “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
St Vincent is a volcanic island. The northern third of the island is mountainous (parts of this area are accessible only by boat because roads cannot be built on the terrain). The highest point is La Soufriere volcano - 1,234 metres. Most of the island’s population lives near the southern coast and the island has a total of 84 km of coastline.
St Vincent is an ex-British colony and has been an independent state in the Commonwealth since October 1979. St Vincent is emerging as a well-governed and regulated financial jurisdiction, the main activities being banking, trusts, insurance and mutual funds. The registration of International Business Companies has also become a strong growth area.
Already very popular with holiday makers from the UK, USA and Canada, the island is often only visited as a day-trip from other Caribbean Islands. The new Buccament Bay Beach Resort, intends to entice guests for longer visits.
“Property prices are currently a quarter of those in Barbados so now is the perfect time for an early investment in this market as prices will rise when the resort opens and the island becomes more popular due to the increase in visitors and the opening of its international airport”.
The island is unspoilt and underdeveloped with huge potential for growth. The Government is encouraging growth in tourism and foreign investment, and it sees tourism as an important industry for the country. There is a new International Airport currently under construction, which is due for completion in 2012 and will have the ability to bring many more visitors direct to the island.
St Vincent is already popular with visitors from UK, USA and Canada, and these numbers are rising. Currently however there are only 400 hotel rooms on the island, none of which are above 3 star. Therefore visitors tend to stay for short visits or even day trips. The addition of the Buccament Bay Beach Resort will fill the gap for 5 Star accommodation on St Vincent.
St Vincent is a stunning destination and offers the visitor plenty to do. Sight seeing, forest walks, sailing and other water sports are all popular.
The very special 5 Star resort of Buccament Bay offers stunning views and uncompromising luxury. The resort is made up of apartments, plantations houses and beach cabana’s and includes a secluded beach, numerous swimming pools and its own marina.
Moored alongside the marina will be The Pearl, a replica of the galleon ship from Pirates of the Caribbean. The ship will serve as a restaurant and run excursions from St Vincent. At the front of the resort the Piazza will house a café bar, restaurants and collection of boutiques.
The Harlequin Sports Academy will offer world class coaching and state of the art facilities for tennis, football and cricket. The Pat Cash Tennis Academy will provide individual and group lessons for players of all ages, standards and abilities. The football and cricket academies will feature courses designed to be interactive, challenging and fun for all abilities. A full range of cardiovascular and physical training equipment will also be available in the Harlequin Fitness Centre.
If this all sounds like too much hard work for some, there is always the Island Sanctuary Spa, which will provide a wide range of therapies and beauty treatments, for total relaxation.
After a tough day at the gym, guests will be able to choose from elegant or relaxed dining, with an array of culinary experiences from around the world. A range of bars and restaurant styles has been exclusively designed for Buccament Bay, by the legendary Trader Vic’s.
